BEING LOUD ABOUT THE LGBTQIA COMMUNITY

Why is it important to speak up for the LGBTQIA community?

It's important because unfortunately the LGBTQIA community is still not as respected, accepted and tolerated in todays society as it should be.

That the community is dealing with hate every single day is not new and also won't be ending soon if we are not normalising the LGBTQ community, and how are we doing that?

We have to raise awareness and educate people that the LGBTQ community is no different than other people. We all are human and want love.

The inclusive education is so important because without it so many LGBTQ+ young people feel isolated, or even unwanted in school. It can feel as though your identity isn’t ‘normal’, or that it’s brushed under the carpet and not talked about.

Also education in schools for example is not just helping young kids to feel normal and to know that there is nothing wrong with them, but also is decreasing bullying.

Young people will understand all LGBTQIA identities and how to treat each other with respect.

The biggest factor of why there is so much bullying, hate, assault, violence etc against the LGBTQIA community is because of the lack of understanding what the LGBTQIA community even means.

But of course its not enough to teach children in school, at home parents have to do their part as well.

Its really essential that they are educating their children about the diversity in todays society, from diverse individuals or any form of family constellations.

They have to learn and understand that every human being is deserving love and respect.

The younger they are when taught, the more it will sink in.

Can I do something as an individual to support the LGBTQIA community?

Yes of course you can! Everyone can help, really!

If you are supportive and respectful towards the community you can raise awareness. Just a conversation with colleagues at work or a friend group, sharing your knowledge can help immensely.

You could for example join any supportive LGBTQIA community group online.

If you want to do more than that you could also host a movie night with one or two of your favorite films about LGBT issues or featuring LGBT characters.

Write an article or column for your school newspaper on LGBT issues at your school.

Start a blog about the LGBTQ community, educating people and creating a safe space.

Be loud about it across social media. Like we have an account on Instagram you could also create one if you're part of the community or even if you're not.

Share some big inspirations and role models or some educational information with your audience, no matter how big.

Always speak up for what you stand for and what you support.

You never know how much of a difference it can make and impact it can have.

Always stay true to yourself and never be afraid to show your true colours! ❤️🌈
