LOOKING BACK ON 2021

Let’s have a look back on 2021 for our community.

It has been a long year but let’s just see the positive.

So many events happened for our rights around the world and they are all steps forwards into our freedom.


JANUARY:

- On the 7th of January the USA suspended an order from providing diversity training. (its a training that encourage interactions to minimise discrimination and prejudices)

- On the 20th of January the new president of the USA; Joe Biden made the government have more protections against discriminations on the base of sex (gender identity, sexuality…)

- On the 25th of January The USA has signed an executive order ending the ban service by transgender.


FEBRUARY:

- On the 9th of February In Angola a new code no longer criminalises homosexuality.

- On the 14th of February in New York, commercial surrogacy (a person agrees to bear a child for another one) has become legal for same sex and opposite sex couples.

- On the 17th of February In Bhutan, a new code no longer criminalises homosexuality.


MARCH:

- On the 11th of March the EU parliament decided that the whole territory of EU members is a freedom zone for LGBTQIA people.


APRIL:

- On the 6th of April Arkansas amended HB 1570 which bans the provision of gender affirming healthcare to those under 18.


MAY:

- On the 10th of May the USA reversed a policy started by Trump: which allowed healthcare companies to deny coverage for gay and transgender people.


JUNE:

- On the 7th of June in India, the conversion therapy (practice to try to change the sexual orientation of a person) was banned.

- On the 16th of June the same sex marriage was legalised in the Mexican state of Sinaloa.


JULY:

- On the 11th of July In Israel the surrogacy law which discriminates same sex couple is amended.


SEPTEMBER:

- On the 26th of September Switzerland same sex marriage was legalised.


NOVEMBER:

- On the 5th of November free IVF is allowed for single women and women in same sex relationships in Spain.

- On the 29th of November gay sex is not criminalised anymore in Botswana.

- On the 30th of November same sex marriage was legalised in Chile.


DECEMBER:

- On the 7th of December Canada banned conversion therapy.


A lot happened in 2021 for our rights

It might be slow process but its going there
